Chaos and patterns of motion are fundamental to my work. I consider chaos to be a prerequisite for order rather than its antithesis. Chaotic motion gives rise to ordered structures that provide an infinite source of spatial relations.
I place ambiguous figures within abstract patterns to create a mystical, kaleidoscopic space. Each of my paintings is a complex visual metaphor full of iconography derived from personal and collective symbolism.
While perpetually scrutinizing my work, I often redevelop my earlier paintings. An old composition becomes the background for a new one. Multiple layers of completely different images are superimposed and merge into a novel composition, but the old is always an essential part of the new.
My process reflects the interdependence of chaos and order, randomness and control. Through a layered approach, I create and destroy my paintings until they evolve into the final composition.
